St Catherine’s undertook an exercise... blindfolded!

The St Catherine’s lifeboat undertook an exercise with a difference today. It involved crew members doing different tasks whilst being blindfolded! This included:
- Deploying the sea anchor
- Fitting the emergency aerial and performing a VHF test transmission
- Assembling and starting the salvage pump
- Coming alongside our casualty dummy “dead Fred” with one crew member giving instructions to one crew member using the throttles and one using emergency steering!
This is really useful to assist in situations with little or no visibility and to further develop skills. Being able to complete tasks in an exercise like this mean the crew can perform them faultlessly when required and under pressure.
