02/02/2020

Earlier this week, His Excellency, Sir Stephen Dalton, presented James Ransom with the RNLI’s Long Service Badge, in recognition of over 20 years’ service to the RNLI Lifeboat in Jersey.

James first joined the St Catherine's lifeboat crew in 1991. During his time at the station the lifeboat has launched 359 times, aiding 428 people with 27 lives saved. James was on 75 of those services with 113 people benefiting from his voluntary assistance.

Nigel Sweeny, Lifeboat Operations Manager for RNLI Jersey, said: “The award of this Long Service Badge is a reflection of the dedicated service James has given for over 20 years. James is a respected member of our crew and all of us at RNLI Jersey are delighted to be able to share this moment with him."

His commitment to the St Catherine’s lifeboat station and the RNLI is exemplary and he has been and continues to be an important member of the lifeboat family as well as a mentor for all the new volunteers passing through the service.

Congratulations James!
