We are pleased to announce that Jonathan Jones has been appointed to the role of Lifeboat Operations Manager for St Catherine’s lifeboat station. He will be taking over from Nigel Sweeny MBE who held the Lifeboat Operations Manager role at St Catherine’s for the last 25 years.

Jonathan has been part of the volunteer crew since June 2018 and is also one of the station’s helms as well as a training assessor for the volunteer crew. Since joining, Jonathan has proven himself to be a dedicated member of RNLI Jersey, and become an established member of the station. His ability to work calmly under pressure in rescue situations reinforces him as a natural team leader.

Nigel said “This transition futureproofs the management of RNLI Jersey’s St Catherine’s lifeboat station and is a very appropriate time to hand over the baton to someone fresh. I will continue and be able to focus as the Lifeboat Operations Manager for St Helier lifeboat station.

Jonathan is a fantastic addition to our joint operations team: he exemplifies our “one crew” ethos, and is a role model for the local volunteer crew.”
