St Helier were paged to a yacht with engine trouble 1nm west of Grosnez

At 10.55am the St Helier Crew were paged to a yacht with engine trouble 1nm west of Grosnez with 5 people on board (including 3 children). The St Helier all weather lifeboat, the George Sullivan, launched and made her way to the casualty vessel.

Once on scene with the casualty vessel, contact was made to determine the next course of action. The vessel was sailing but not making much progress due to lack of wind and as the tide was about to turn to the ebb the decision was made to take the vessel under tow. A tow was quickly established after the casualty vessel crew had taken her sails down.
During the long tow back the lifeboat crew tucked into some well deserved lunch (a mixture of freeze dried sausage and mash, and curry!).

Once back at St Helier the casualty vessel was taken into an alongside tow and placed on the Albert Pontoon berth. The all weather lifeboat was then berthed back on station and made ready for her next service.
