St Helier & St Catherine's Lifeboats launched to assist in search for missing person

Both the St Helier and St Catherine Lifeboats were launched this morning to assist with the search for a missing person whose car has been found in Sorel Point car park.

The lifeboats were tasked with shoreline and inshore searches and were assisting the onshore searches conducted by the Jersey Fire & Rescue Service and a French Navy helicopter.

After several hours of searching the casualty was spotted by the French Navy helicopter and a crew member from the St Catherine's inshore lifeboat was put ashore to undertake an initial medical assessment.

The casualty was evacuated by helicopter and both lifeboats were stood down at which time they returned to their respective stations and were readied for their next services.
