St Helier lifeboat tasked to assist yacht with 2 persons on board

Just after 19:30 on Sunday evening the St Helier RNLI Lifeboat was tasked to assist a 9m Yacht with 2 persons on board approximately 4 miles south east of La Rocque that had experienced mechanical failure.

Although not in any immediate danger Jersey Coast Guard requested the Yacht to drop its anchor due to concern of them drifting onto one of the many reefs in the area.

Once the lifeboat was on scene the yacht crew were requested to raise their anchor but were unable to do so. Two RNLI crew were placed on board who raised the anchor and managed the lines for the tow back to St Helier.

Once the yacht was safely along side in La Collette Marina the all weather lifeboat was refuelled and made ready for her next tasking request.
