St Helier all-weather lifeboat paged for a crew assemble
At 4.25pm on 29th August, Jersey’s St Helier all-weather lifeboat was paged for a crew assemble after Coastguard saw a sailing vessel to the south of the Demi de Pas lighthouse which appeared to be experiencing difficulties.
With strong winds and big tides running, the sailing vessel was making very little progress. The St Helier lifeboat launched and proceeded to the vessel to assess the situation.
The lifeboat then stood by the sailing vessel and provided assistance as required, accompanying them towards St Helier. Once safely inside St Helier, the lifeboat assisted the crew in getting alongside and safely secured.
A good example of Jersey Coastguard watching over our waters, and how in strong winds and tides it can make a challenging situation for vessels at sea.
