St Helier ALB launched to a large motor cruiser with a fire on board

On Wednesday afternoon, shortly after 5pm, the St Helier all-weather lifeboat was launched to a large motor cruiser in St Brelade's Bay with 10 crew and which had reported a fire on board.

Fortunately the fire was extinguished by the time the lifeboat arrived on scene, but the coxswain put a crew member aboard to ensure that the casualty crew were alright and to provide the professional skipper with additional assistance.

A tow was established and the casualty vessel was brought back to St Helier, where it was handed over to Jersey Fire & Rescue to check over and make safe.

Thanks to Jersey Coastguard and Jersey Fire & Rescue for their support throughout.
