The St Helier All Weather Lifeboat was launched this afternoon to assist a large power-driven vessel that had developed steering difficulties and was unable to make way near The Anquettes, some 3 miles south-east of La Rocque harbour.

The lifeboat towed the vessel back into St Helier and whilst putting her alongside in the harbour, another call came in from a yacht near Corbiere that had suffered engine failure and was struggling to make way in the light winds and against the prevailing current. The lifeboat proceeded to assist and also towed the vessel into St. Helier.
