St Helier ALB assists 5 metre RIB in difficulty

Yesterday evening at 8:30pm the St Helier crew were paged to a 5 metre RIB in difficulty with 3 persons onboard around Les Minquiers area.

The St Helier All Weather Lifeboat was launched around 10 minutes later and proceeded at best speed to Les Minquiers reef where the casualty vessel was quickly located on a mooring after they had been to the sandbar 0.5NM NW of the main island and lost within the reef for some time.

The occupants were found well, but cold and disorientated. The casualties were transferred to the George Sullivan and two RNLI crew members helmed the RIB back following the All Weather Lifeboat.

Both boats arrived in St Helier around 10:00pm, everyone safe and well.
