St. Catherine's Lifeboat on early morning call

The St Catherine’s RNLI Lifeboat crew were paged early on Tuesday morning by Jersey Coastguard.

A 22ft motor vessel, with one person on board, had become entangled with a pot buoy east of the Ecrehous reef towards Carteret. The Eric W. Wilson, the station's B class lifeboat, was alongside the vessel in under 15 minutes from launch.

With a certain amount of difficulty the boat was cut free, which enabled the vessel to proceed on her way using just one engine.

As a precaution, the St Catherine’s Lifeboat escorted the vessel until she was off Rozel where she was moored.

During the incident the St Helier RNLI all-weather lifeboat was also put on standby.

The St Catherine's lifeboat was refuelled and back on service by 11am.
