St Catherine's ILB tasked to assist the Fire Service with sheep rescue

The St Catherine’s inshore lifeboat was called out for two incidents earlier this evening.

Initially the crew was paged to assist the Fire Service with the recovery of some sheep that had fallen off the cliff top. As the boat was launching, the Coastguard diverted the crew to search for a missing swimmer. The crew commenced a shore line search from St Catherine’s breakwater to La Coupe and fortunately the swimmer was found safe and well and was just doing a lengthy swim.

The crew then proceeded to Devils Hole to assist the Fire Service. Two sheep had been rescued by the Fire Service when the lifeboat arrived on scene. The lifeboat was stood down and returned to station and was made ready for service.
