St Catherine's ILB recovers lost rowing boat

St Catherine's inshore lifeboat was launched at 10.15 to recover a partially submerged rowing boat which had become a navigational hazard. The rowing boat had been lost from its tow the week before and was reported by a passing motor boat as being approximately 4 miles to the NW of Grosnez.

The rowing boat had almost completely submerged with only its bow presenting above the surface of the water. The lifeboat was easily able to attach a tow and, in the course of bringing the boat back to Jersey, the rowing boat effectively self-baled meaning that, by the time the crew arrived at Greve de Lecq, the casualty vessel was able to float by itself.
