The RNLI Jersey St Catherine's inshore lifeboat was paged shortly after 11.15am today to assist a 40ft yacht that had suffered steering failure north of Bouley Bay. Whilst the yacht had been able to drop its anchor, there were strong currents running as a result of the falling spring tide. 

The St Catherine's lifeboat was quickly alongside and, having weighed up the various options open to the yacht's skipper and given the imminent inclement weather, the decision was taken to take the yacht under tow into Bouley Bay to allow the yacht's crew to effect their repairs.

The inshore lifeboat then returned to station where she was readied for her next shout.
