Gibby Gordon

Gibby Gordon

I joined the RNLI Jersey in 2011 and was ILB crew with St Catherine’s until I joined St Helier on the ALB in late 2017 and passed out as an ILB helmsman in summer 2019. There have been several shouts that stand out in my mind and so many I can’t remember them all but my most memorable was a multi asset search and rescue for a missing person on the south coast in the middle of the night with north easterly F6-7 winds on the ILB in winter in the freezing cold. It was calm close to shore but once we were off the land we just had wave after wave crashing over the boat. We had a helicopter flying over head with their huge search light lighting up the whole area showing us just how big the waves were, after a few hours all assets were stood down as the person had been found safe and well.
