I joined the RNLI Jersey in 2012 as ILB crew at St Catherine's Lifeboat Station. In the same year as joining, I started working with Jersey Seafaris, crewing on RHIB trips around the Channel Islands. The two roles complement each other well and, in the summer of 2019, I passed out as a helmsman. Over the past 8 years I have attended a whole range of shouts, one that stands out was a search for a yacht off the Paternosters during the night. The solo yachtsman had injured himself and became disorientated due to a health condition. The St Helier ALB was also tasked and it was great to see both boats working together. The shout required a range of skills from all the crew onboard both boats, including casualty care, towing and safe navigation.
