I joined the RNLI late 2018 with my training starting early 2019. I have always had a keen interest in the water and the sea. My inspiration for becoming a volunteer came from one evening when I first watched the RNLI documentary BBC series ‘Saving Lives at Sea', within the first 10 minutes of watching my very first episode I realised this was for me! I sent an email to the Jersey station while watching and was invited in for a chat the same week, I have never looked back. My first shout was on one of my acquaint trips on the ALB, we were just south of Noirmont point on a weekend training exercise when the call came over the radio from the Coast Guard asking us to await instructions, we were called to a missing surfer in St Ouen’s bay. The crew all took their positions and the professionalism of the crew really showed through for me, we were stood down shortly after arrival after a quick visual search the surfer as he had appeared safe and well on shore, I felt a sense of accomplishment on the positive outcome and I was very proud to be part of the team.
