A minute silence for the lives lost during a rescue on Friday

Over the weekend three crew members from the French sea rescue organisation Société Nationale de Sauvetage en Mer (SNSM) tragically lost their lives during a rescue on Friday. This news has been deeply felt by all of us in the lifesaving family, and is a reminder of the dangers that all of our teams can face when assisting others.

Today, the French Community will be gathering with the French President, Emmanuel Macron, at Les Sables-D’Olonne where the lives of three lifesavers were lost. As part of a national tribute, the French maritime community will take part in a minute's silence at 1030 BST followed by vessels in the harbour sounding their foghorns.

At a gathering of the RNLI Jersey volunteers yesterday, a minute's silence was held in tribute to the crew members. We would appreciate if you would spend one minute in silence today at 1030 to join the tribute.
