St Catherine's inshore lifeboat search of Jersey's north coast

The St Catherine's inshore lifeboat was launched to conduct a coastline search off the north coast after a 'Mayday' message was picked up by Jersey Coastguard from their Fremont mast. The message had not been picked up by either the Guernsey or the French coastguard services and the concern was therefore that it may have been issued by a handheld VHF.

The St Catherine's lifeboat conducted a coastline search of the north coast, the Dirouelles reef and Les Ecrehous reef. However, no sign of anything untoward was identified and the lifeboat was stood down at which time the crew returned to station and prepared the boat for the next launch.
