Being part of the RNLI is amazing in lots of ways. Obviously there is the huge happiness that comes with helping people at sea but also the people you get to crew with and the friendships you make is also such a special part of being an RNLI crew member. One of the craziest days with the RNLI was when my wife and I were shopping for kitchen appliances for a new home. During the day my pager went off 4 times for different shouts and I kept having to leave and go out to sea. It's days like this when you realise that having support for what we do is just as important as the role itself, as without our families we simply could not drop everything at a moment's notice!
