The management team brings together experienced volunteers from both stations.
On leaving university I spent a couple of years working as crew with a local boat tour company. I had always had aspirations to join the RNLI, but at that time I lived out-width the stations catchment area. On moving to Jersey in 2018, I got a job and then immediately went to the station to put myself forward to volunteer, and I have been incredibly honoured to have joined the crew. In my time as a volunteer I have been involved in a number of memorable shouts. One that sticks in my mind was one of my first on the ILB. We had been tasked to search for a missing diver. As we began to make our way to the reported search area, we encountered a low flying plane that had spotted the gentleman from the air. The plane passed us over head and dipped it’s wing over the diver on a number of passes which allowed us to proceed straight to the diver and recover them quickly and safely.
