Busy Sunday for RNLI Lifeboat Crew and Lifeguards

The RNLI Jersey crews and RNLI Lifeguards had a busy Sunday! The day started off with both the St Helier all-weather lifeboat and St Catherine inshore lifeboat attending the annual Gorey boat blessing and the crews were treated to a lovely lunch!

Following the Gorey service, as they headed back to St Helier, the St Helier all-weather lifeboat was tasked to a Mayday relay at St Brelade's although they were stood down shortly after as the RNLI Lifeguards had dealt with the situation.

The crew of the St Catherine’s inshore lifeboat then had their afternoon interrupted when the pager went off just after 4.20PM. The crew launched to assist two paddleboarders who had got into difficulty near Greve de Lecq.

The crew arrived on scene to find that the RNLI Lifeguards had again dealt with the situation and the paddleboarders were safely ashore.

The day's activities show the importance of joined up search and rescue capabilities, coordinated by the Jersey Coastguard. We saw primary assistance being offered by the Lifeguards with back up support from the lifeboat assets in the event that it was needed.
