Lifeboats

Jersey has had a lifeboat since 1830, when a boat was kept near Harve des Pas, to the south east of St Helier. St Helier had its first RNLI station in 1884 and it moved to its current location on the Albert Quay in 1993.

There are two types of lifeboat stationed in Jersey: the Tamar all-weather lifeboat (ALB), which is stationed at St Helier
and the Atlantic 85 inshore lifeboat (ILB), of which one is stationed at each of St Helier and St Catherine.
